MEET AMY SCOBEE - CERTIFIED LIFE CELEBRANT

As a trained & certified Life Tribute Specialist or "Celebrant", Amy Scobee has helped hundreds of families to honor their loved one's special life.

It starts with listening to  their life story in detail, since every individual is unique.  Next, each element of the funeral or memorial service is planned with the family, then the service is composed by the Celebrant and professionally delivered on the specified date.

With decades of public speaking experience throughout America and other countries, Amy is compassionate about speaking for families who have lost a loved one, to help alleviate any added stress  during this tender and difficult time.

This unique career began after the early loss of  her mother to cancer, when Amy became determined to use her writing and speaking skills to help others during their own season of loss.

While Amy  is experienced in a variety of fields, she is most proud of her Celebrant work and also as an active Human Rights defender with appearances on all forms of national & international media for the past 15 years.

TESTIMONIALS

“The service you provided for my mom was outstanding! I knew after a few minutes of meeting with you what a blessing you were to our family. We appreciated you spending such quality time with us, asking specific questions about Mom that we may not have thought to mention. Your kindness, warmth and overall spirit was just what we needed for our mom’s funeral.  I can tell you Mom would have adored you! Mom's service was absolutely beautiful. What you brought and presented was so precious!

After the service, the extended family and friends asked repeatedly how we knew you. They thought you were a long time family friend, and we felt that too! Thank you again!  You did a great job and we treasure your tribute to our mother!” ~ J.L.

"I must admit it has taken me more time than I thought to get my head around Gail's death, and begin this new life without her. The service was beautiful, exactly what I wanted for Gail. One of my fears was that it would be disorganized, as I have been to some that were. However, you did such a wonderful job, giving guidance to those in attendance, clear directions of the agenda and what to expect. It was masterful - I can't say how impressed my family was.  The service was also not about Gail's long illness and struggle, yet you explained her illness just as it was, very serious and years long, but manageable when met with  strong determination which she always exhibited. So we were all treated to Gail's life in a wonderful service.

Thank you so much, you are gifted. ~ B.O.

“I really appreciate the service you recently did for my husband, Jerry.  So many people told me how great the service was and if they didn't know otherwise, they'd think you knew Jerry yourself. People said it was the best funeral they had ever been to - more like a family gathering, where everyone could just enjoy being there, celebrating Jerry's life. Everything that was said about Jerry did not make them feel sad, but PROUD to have known him. Honestly, I was so nervous and afraid of having something go wrong, but you made this experience easy - and I wanted you to know that you are so good at what you do and I'm more than satisfied. Overall, you did such an excellent job and I'll definitely recommend your services to others.

Thank you again. ~ E.M.

“Thank you so much for being such a wonderful source of comfort and support at a most difficult time for our family.

Your service, for my dad, was absolutely beautiful. So touching, lovely and truly exactly what we wanted and more.

You did an amazing job. Thank you again. Kindest Regards.” ~ K.C.

“I don’t even have words to tell you how happy I am with your service for Mom. All of her family were so very pleased and many of her friends told me they had never been to such a wonderful and truthful ‘Celebration’ of someone’s life. You turned a hard day into a true memorial of a wonderful woman.

Thank you!” ~ C.G.

“Thank you for the wonderful service you orchestrated for my brother, Roger. You have such a grace and class! I’m sure your job can be difficult at times, but you obviously have a servant’s heart and I appreciate it. Thank you so much, and I hope our paths meet again under much happier circumstances.

God Bless.” ~ M.J.

"It was so important that the service really touched on the amazing person Dennis was, and you did it!  The success of the memorial rested on your shoulders for the tone & balance between humor & sorrow, and you did an exceptional job.  Your compassion, caring and kindness was clearly reflected in your presentation of Dennis's life's journey and really captured the joy, happiness and fun that was Dennis. I can't thank you enough." ~ D.V.

"Words can't express the gratitude that our family has for your commitment to make Ryan's memorial so special and truly memorable. We could not have asked for a better experience, especially given the current social circumstances.  Your sensitivity, support and wonderful touches made this event very meaningful and moving. Your craft is a unique art that you have mastered and you will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you! ~ T.T

"Dear Amy, thank you for the beautiful card and the memento of my mother and thank you again for your help and support. The service today was absolutely beautiful!

I have received so many positive comments already! Several people told me it was the most beautiful funeral they had ever attended!  You were amazing!  God bless you and thank you so much.  My mom would have really liked you a lot.

Blessings to you!! ~ G.F.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answer: A Celebrant is a person who is trained and certified to meet the needs of families during their time of loss.  A Celebrant serves by providing a funeral service that is personalized to reflect the personality and life-style of the deceased and help families respectfully and professionally honor the lives of those they love.

Answer: The training for Celebrants established by the In-Sight Institute seeks to provide the most comprehensive and sensitive training available. It is important that you and your family know that you are being served by someone who understands the process and is prepared to offer the very best service possible, with dignity, compassion and grace.

Answer: There are many functions that a Celebrant performs to assist a family after the loss of a loved one.

  • A Celebrant has been specifically trained to design and deliver a tailor-made service for your loved one that is completely personal, incorporating those unique stories, songs and experiences that defined the loved one.
  • A Celebrant will schedule a family meeting time for your family to share memories, anecdotes and special moments in the loved one's life. The essence of the service will be based upon the remembrances of the family.
  • The Celebrant will consult with you to help design a service that best reflects and memorializes the life of your loved one. This can include candle lighting ceremonies, Military Honors, photo slideshow, significant songs, musical performances, guest speakers, poetry readings and prayers - in addition to  a very personalized eulogy that brings out all of the attributes and qualities that made your loved one unique and the highlights of their journey through life.
  • Coordinates with the family, venue and all other contacts to bring the elements of the service together.
  • The Celebrant can serve at a funeral service, memorial service, graveside service, anniversary tribute, tree planting, bench dedication or any other gathering designed to honor the deceased.
  • Regardless of religion, faith or background, the Certified Celebrant is trained to serve all families and honor their personal traditions.

Answer: A Celebration of Life event can be held in a multitude of locations. such as a park or waterfront setting, restaurant, hotel banquet room, winery/brewery, clubhouse, church, funeral home, community center or a special location significant to the family. The best venue will depend upon the size of your party and personal preference.

Funerals are generally held in the chapel of the Funeral Home taking care of your loved one.  Most funeral homes have banquet rooms for catered receptions following the service, but the reception can also be held at a family member's home, a restaurant or other  such venue.

Answer:  A "Living" Life Story is when the Celebrant meets directly with a still-living individual to write THEIR life story.  We don't have to wait for someone to pass away before capturing the amazing details of their life - as only they could tell it. The Celebrant will meet with the individual (and their family members, if desired) to learn all about their life's journey. The Celebrant will then write their story and provide it in a binder to the family for a keepsake and to use for any future Funeral or Memorial Service.

At least 5 days prior to any service, the Celebrant will schedule a meeting time with the family to discuss your loved one and plan all service details. Depending on what works best for the family, the meeting will either be held at the family's home, the Funeral Home or at a central meeting place such as a local coffee shop.

The Celebrant will ask several detailed questions to learn all about your loved one - their attributes and qualities, their hobbies and passions and specifics about their life's journey.

With details about the elements of the service itself then determined, the Celebrant is then ready to write and deliver a beautiful and one-of-a-kind tribute to your loved one.

For Obituary and Eulogy writing (where no Life Celebration event is required of the Celebrant), the family meeting can be conducted over the phone. As such, these services are NOT limited solely to Florida, but can be provided to anyone within the United States.

Serving Florida's Pasco, Pinellas & Hillsborough Counties. Will also travel to serve you!
